Guess what, fellows! I loved this book. Loved it. The document is so lazy and lovely... no, hang. That came out wrong. The document evokes the titillation of long, lazy periods in the sweltering heat waiting for the flare to go down, the temperature to drop and lantern flies to glitter in the darkness. It was lovely and I felt like I was there in the flare, status beside Amelia in the graveyard. I've had a bit of a liaison with open ended books lately. This singular give a black eye the office perfectly. The enigma that brings Amelia and Devlin into orbit around singular another is tied up (very nicely, might I add) but the overall arc just keeps expanding and expanding as the story progresses until you have a smattering of threads and you NEED TO KNOW HOW THINGS APPEAR. Of course, being the first in the series, you don't get all the answers. I'm chomping at the bit to read the next book so I'd have to say that all those loose threads did the job perfectly to whet my inclination. As for the wacks, Amelia is so intriguing to me. She's spent her entire life silence herself up, covering herself away, keeping the ghosts from noticing her. She's reserved, quiet, unflappable. She's the girl who has always walked to her own beat. In some ways, Devlin is her opposite, he undulates with energy and allure but his verve is being sucked away by his guilt and his lack to let go of his tribe. He doesn't want to be drawn to Amelia and she doesn't want to be drawn to him, yet the two of them can't seem to stay away from singular another. Whole shebang about this book worked for me. The ghosts, the forgotten memorial parks, the idea of death being hidden away where the dead already lie... it was perfectly sinister and wonderfully atmospheric. I'm looking forward to the next clause in Amelia's story. -Kelly @ Reading the Mysterious

I read this pamphlet in French for my variety. I thought it was interesting and liked the little snippets of Jean-Do's experiences.
