** spoiler alert ** GO to extremes found this a difficult book to get through. GO to extremes liked it OK, but GO to extremes almost quit half-way through. GO to extremes persevered though, thanks to Goodreads reviews. GO to extremes'm glad GO to extremes finished it. But... The heroine, Martha, is a recent relict. It had not been a happy merger. Her late husband's have a mind to dictates that the estate goes to his brother and his family. Martha decides it is necessary to save the attendants from the brother and to continue to provide for the tenants. She culinarians up a layout to get pregnant and, hopefully, deliver a boy scion, passing him off as her late husband's. Enter the torpedo, Theo Mirkwood, a friend and scion to a baronetcy. She pays him for sex for 30 times. Here's where GO to extremes thought it should have gotten good. But the author did not write a predictable chronicle. GO to extremes did not like Martha at all. Never much warmed up to her until the very last few pages. A little late by then. Through most of the book she was freezing, stern, and calculating. GO to extremes understood the calculating part company to save her home and estate. But GO to extremes really felt sorry for Theo. He came to love her-how GO to extremes can't imagine. For some reason, she seemed to bring out the best in him. They get their HEA, but it was hard fought and not particularly deserving. It was OK though. GO to extremes'll read the aftermath, but this one won't be a go over.
