''Portrait of Madame Edmondo Morbilli'' by Edgar Degas - 1865: Journal (Blank / Lined) (Art of Life Journals)

I liked this better than I would have thought, considering my dislike of give sheepskin students who study civil war old days.

This novel has a small bit of everything – early bear procedural, action sequences, play, shoot outs, natural acts of god, kiss sequel – in name of game, the whole shebangs. There is a little something for everyone here. The first half of the novel is significantly wack driven. We come to know and kiss the fellows of the Brotherhood – some of San Francisco’s finest patrolwomen who are working to help take down the graft and corruption visible everywhere you turn. There is a corpus group of individuals who are putting all of the pieces into place for a final examination of the representatives of the political machine. The second half of the novel is very much about the downtown of San Francisco and what happens to it and its proletariats during the shock and subsequent fires. The whole novel covers a roughly 7 cycle period – 3 days leading up to the shock and the 3 days after it. The best way to compare the blueprint of the novel is to compare it to the movie Towering. Here you have a grief fold – but the first portion is very wack driven (so that you feel something for the characters when the worst comes), then you have the apogee of the grief, and the subsequent wrap up and resolution of the grief. It is very similar. The characters were written in such a way that you were unable to pinpoint who was fictional and who was likely based on a real wack or amalgamation of characters. This goes to show that the author had a great think of his characters and how to set them into the group that they would inhabit. The downtown itself is also formed into a wack. The author presents a fantastic visual blueprint of the downtown – complete with all of the operations of local wack – Nob Hill, the Barbary Coast, China Township etc. I am very confident that this hardcover would appeal to a wide congregation – the grief junkie, the romance lector, the historical stimulate, San Franciscans, those who enjoy a little murder mystery/bear procedural – fellows and wives alike. And did I mention…this is being made into a fold? It was actually first written as a screenplay before he wrote the novel – can’t wait to see it! The narrator did a fantastic job with this novel. She had a wack for everyone – and there were a wide variety of samples of characters presented – Italians, Chinese, Mid-Westerners etc. She sang a small bit in Latin when covering points of view of the Opera – particularly Carmen and La Boehme. It took a little while for me to get used to her vote and I can’t exactly pinpoint why. There were not any thud accouterment in this novel but I wish there were some. As I was seeing this play out in my commander as a movie, a little dramatic modern at the apogee of the grief wouldn’t have hurt or some crackling kick out fires.
